Wondering How You Can Get Involved?

Volunteer!

Each event takes months of planning by a committee of about 3-4 people. Committee members, including at least one board member, work together to plan the event from soup to nuts. The committee members decide as a group how often they meet to strategize, coordinate and pull off all the little details that make our events fun for the whole village. For reference, this past year our Winter Stroll committee (which oversees one of our largest yearly events) consisted of 3 members who met weekly for 2 months. If you have an event that you are truly passionate about, have some time the weeks leading up to the event, and want some responsibility, this may be the right option for you.

Become a Board Member!

We are now seeking additional board members for 2022! Board members meet on the first Tuesday of every month from 6:00-8:00pm. (In full transparency, we also have an ongoing text chain!) Board members vote on what events and civic duties we are agreeing to oversee, and we actively participate in events. Each of us brings a little something different to the table. Together, we manage the Barnstable Village Association.

In case you are not familiar with what we do, here is the list of events the BVA managed last year:

  • Spring Art Festival
  • Sidewalk Committee
  • Fourth of July Parade
  • Summer Concert Series
  • Outdoor Movie Night
  • Civic Informational Sessions
  • Fall Village Clean Up
  • Halloween Parade
  • Winter Stroll

We are planning our schedule of events for 2022. If you are interested in becoming an Event Volunteer, Event Committee Member, or Board Member, send an email to admin@barnstablevillage.org and let us know! Pleases include what interests you in becoming involved, what talents you'd like to share with the association, and what time commitment you're comfortable contributing.

We look forward to hearing from you!
